General Summary of the Position

The 360 Journalist will be responsible for creating immersive multimedia experiences that provide a 360-degree view of stories and events related to the Catholic Church and the Diocese. They will work closely with the Managing Editor of the Texas Catholic, the Managing Editor of Revista Catolica, and the Communications team to develop and execute 360-degree content that engages and informs readers across various platforms, including web, mobile, and podcasting. This position requires excellent storytelling skills, strong editorial judgment, and proficiency in multimedia production.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position

• Conceptualize, research, report, write, and produce 360-degree content related to the Catholic Church and the Diocese, including text, photos, videos, and interactive features.
• Collaborate with others to develop and execute multimedia projects that provide a 360-degree view of stories and events related to the Catholic Church and the Diocese.
• Work with multimedia tools and equipment to capture and edit 360-degree video and audio.
• Manage projects from start to finish, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Stay up-to-date with trends and developments in 360-degree storytelling and multimedia production.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the faithful and support 360-degree content production.
• Write and post photos and edited videos on all The Texas Catholic/Revista Catolica social media platforms.
• Ensure that all content adheres to the ethical and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must possess exceptional interviewing and writing skills to communicate effectively with the audience

• Must be proficient in the use of digital photography and video equipment, including DSLR cameras and Smartphones.
• Must be proficient in various editing word and digital image software including Word, Excel, Final Cut and/or Premiere Pro, and iMovie and WordPress.
• Knowledge and proficiency in other software such as HTML, Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite, Motion, After Effect, Animation, among others, is a plus.
• Proficiency in use of and licensed to pilot a drone a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of the Catholic Church and its teachings.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
  

Education and Experience:

•  A Roman Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, pre-communications, and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience rep photography and videography and social media platform content engagement at a media company.
• Experience managing projects from start to finish and then to report on their engagement
• Employment at a Catholic diocesan publication or media company is a plus

Special Requirements:

• Must have a dependable vehicle and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. The ability to travel to various locations and transport equipment or materials as needed is essential to this position
• Because of the equipment used in this position, the candidate must be able to transport without hardship all equipment needed to competently perform duties and responsibilities.
